My Simple Morning Skincare Routine

My morning skincare routine is pretty simple.

I only use 4 products! I used to layer like 10 or more for morning and night! Those Korean skincare routines really got me, and while I enjoyed them, my skin is pretty happy without all the crazy amount of layers. I’m not saying that Korean [insert number] step skincare routines are bad or shouldn’t be done, but for my skin, I have seen the best results with a much more simplified regimen. (My wallet is pretty stoked about this too, just sayin’.)

Here are my current daily products that make it onto my mug each and every morning!

Cleansing: JUST water. No cleanser or soaps. My skin has LOVED this and I started doing this about a year ago and haven’t looked back.

  1. Essence: Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Intensive Moist Essence. I’ve been using this for YEARS and it’s gentle, yet effective in keeping my skin nice and plump with hydration, but not too heavily. I like to pat this into my skin with my hands.

  2. Facial oil or serum: I was using my favorite HG Herbivore Botanicals Lapis Oil both morning and evening, but switched recently to Biossance’s Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil for the day. It’s lightweight, gentle, and again hydrating, without being greasy! I also believe it’s helping with smoothing the textural issues I have with all the leftover scarring and pitting, which is a major bonus!

  3. Facial Mist: For added hydration I’ve been enjoying topping off and sealing in all my skincare for the day with a fine mist. I’ve really been enjoying rose in my skincare this year and I didn’t think I needed this until I started using it. During one of their sales, I decided to try a small travel size bottle and since then haven’t stopped repurchasing! This facial mist now replaces any traditional moisturizer for daytime. I prefer a lighter product in the day and this was perfect (especially in the summertime!). The Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist by Herbivore Botanicals is my favorite mist. It’s light, hydrating, non-irritating, and just gives my skin an added boost of “glow from within” on top of all my other products. It’s a definite skin-loving mist and if you’re looking for something like that, this one is worth trying out.

  4. Sunscreen (South Korea)/”Day Fluid” (US): My other holy grail is this amazing sunscreen by Krave Beauty—The Beet Shield. It was released in South Korea before it hit stateside and so I was waiting in anticipation! Liah Yoo, the founder and creator of Krave Beauty worked really hard to get it into the states (no thanks to the FDA, if you want more info on that you can find out more on their website or Liah’s YouTube). I love this sunscreen because it’s very natural, no white cast, not sticky, not greasy, but gives off a nice, healthy-fresh-face glow. It’s dewy, without the grease. I can get a bit shiny with this, but honestly it doesn’t bother me (nothing a little setting or oil blotting powder can’t fix) because my skin just looks HEALTHY! This sunscreen is amazing underneath makeup as a primer or alone. There’s no scent and it’s non-irritating.

And there you have it folks, my super simple, minimal, and gentle morning skincare routine. My skin has been so happy with this combination of products and I will definitely continue to repurchase all of these products. It’s so important to find a skincare routine or products that work for your skin! Once you find what it likes, you can feed it accordingly, and keep it happy!

I hope you enjoyed this quick glimpse at my skincare routine for the AM and hope you come back to find out what my nighttime routine is—coming really soon!
